The FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is expected to bring the most sweeping changes to the U.S. food supply chain in over 70 years. The final FSMA regulations will be released at the end of 2015 into early 2016, with all food manufacturers required to comply within the next couple of years.
However, a recent benchmark of the food and beverage industry's readiness for FSMA conducted by Kalypso revealed that companies are largely underprepared for the implications of the upcoming standards. Many still need to take actions in terms of technology, organization and processes to prepare their quality and regulatory systems for compliance with the new rules.
