Kalypso Showcases Internet of Things Connectivity with Smart, Connected Mountain Bike at NIWeek

August 4, 2015

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Global innovation consulting firm Kalypso, in collaboration with National Instruments (NI) and PTC, brings the Internet of Things (IoT) to life this week at the 21st annual NIWeek conference with a smart, connected Santa Cruz mountain bike.

NIWeek attendees can experience the vision and potential of end-to-end IoT solutions with a hands-on demonstration of the bike at booth 433 and on stage during the morning keynote on Wednesday, August 5 at 8:30AM. The demo hopes to inspire engineers and scientists to embrace IoT by understanding the technology and software that is now available to help.

The smart, connected mountain bike demo includes:

  • The NI myRIO device attached to the bike that measures important data such as fork travel, wheel speed, pedal speed, and steering angle
  • PTC’s ThingWorx platform that gathers data from the myRIO and builds a web-enabled dashboard for designers, test engineers and repair technicians
  • Linking live ThingWorx data with the CAD (PTC Creo) model from the bike’s original design to create a "digital twin" and provide context for the data

Kalypso, PTC and NI explore how the smart, connected mountain bike scratches the surface of what's possible with IoT in the recent article Time to Rethink What's Possible with the Internet of Things.
