Ted’s 35 years of research and development experience were built in the CPG industry, where he held leadership roles in advanced research and R&D. As a fellow at Kalypso, he uses his years of experience in breakthrough innovation, research foresight and R&D business processes & systems to support clients.

Prior to joining Kalypso, Ted lived in the breakthrough innovation world. Early in his career, Ted served as a researcher at P&G and Kimberly-Clark and has 18 US patents. Later, he held R&D leadership positions at Kimberly-Clark, Georgia-Pacific, J&J and PepsiCo. Specific areas of expertise include:

  • Breakthrough Innovation: Understanding the different organizational models and challenges for breakthrough innovation
  • Strategic Foresight: Using scenario methods to inform longer range research project portfolio
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Applying leading practice processes and systems to integrating research with rest of the corporate enterprise

Ted has been active in the Industrial Research Institute for 20 years. In 2013, he and Christian Crews led the IRI2038 project, an 18 month strategic foresight project that explored the world of research and technology management 25 years in the future. He is currently on the steering team for IRI’s 'Digitalization of R&D' initiative. Ted is also passionate about leadership, and has written a book on the topic called What Do I Do Now? Becoming a 21st Century Leader

Current Projects

As a fellow at Kalypso, Ted leverages his experience in breakthrough innovation, strategic foresight and PLM to support the firm's business development efforts. Ted acts as a subject matter expert in these areas to help clients succeed in their innovation efforts.

Outside of Kalypso

Ted lives in McKinney, TX but loves the Packers! He’s also been an avid marathoner for over 30 years.
