Consumer Innovation Shout Out: Saucony and Dunkin’ Mashup

Background image: Donutholes

Two Boston-based consumer brands collaborated on a Dunkin’ themed running shoe for the Boston Marathon.

For the second year in a row, Saucony footwear and Dunkin’ are serving up a boldly colored Kinvara 10 shoe ahead of the April 15th Boston Marathon. This year’s limited-edition model features a lightweight mesh upper and Saucony’s innovative EVERUN cushioning for long-distance running.

The functionality of the shoe is impressive, but the design details make it delicious. The shoe features Dunkin's signature bright pink and orange colors, strawberry frosted donut lace keepers, a coffee cup on the tongue, three sets of laces (orange, pink, and white), and the word Boston on a reflective strip on the heel. To wrap it all up, the shoes are packaged in a customized shoebox resembling a Dunkin’ donut box.

Way to go Saucony and Dunkin’ for this inspired product mashup paying homage to the greatest sporting event in Boston. Last year’s model sold out in hours and I’m sure it’ll be a sprint to get a pair of these beauties this year – hope you’ve had your coffee!
