PLM Primer: Choosing the Right Solution for Food & Beverage

Last month’s column explored how food and beverage (F&B) companies can enable traceability and guarantee compliance by implementing a product lifecycle management (PLM) system to manage the product data record. Other business benefits that can be achieved with PLM were briefly mentioned, including improving innovation efficiency, lowering cost of rework and redundancy, and creating new efficiencies in product development processes.

The challenge for F&B companies is determining what their PLM solution should look like. The functionality of PLM systems for the industry is variable and is constantly evolving.
