Colin Speakman - A Character With Character
...because interesting people are more fun to work with
I was born in upstate New York where the closest stoplight was a 15-minute drive away. As a child, I told everyone that I was going to be a pumpkin farmer (although I later discovered that January through September is a rough stretch for business). Then I moved to Cleveland where I met my first two loves: my wife (happily married for eight years) and the Cleveland Browns (season ticket holder). I am a Back to the Future nut and drive my wife crazy when I recite the entire script while watching it on TV. I love golf (former scratch golfer) but have found that it is easier to make time to hang out with my family than it is to hit the links. I believe life is best served with a strong shot of optimism, and it is rare to see me without a goofy smile. I don’t always hang out with characters, but when I do, I prefer Kalypso Characters.
What is your most treasured possession?
I don’t really focus on possessions, so I would have to say my Red Swingline stapler.
What is your most marked characteristic?
I think I have a problem with the muscles around my mouth, because I can’t stop smiling…ever!
What is your greatest fear?
Twisting my ankle while walking down a hallway with a client – a legitimate concern, as I have been known to fall randomly in hallways.
If you had a super power, which super power would you have and why?
Invisibility. Too often people change what they say when others are around - I want to hear the REAL story. Well, there’s that aspect, and the whole being-able-to-do-anything-you-want-because-no-one-can-see-you part, too…
When was the last time you cried in a movie? Which movie?
I have never played a role in a movie where I had to cry. However, I was in a film where I had to repeatedly say “I’m Batman.” I hear that film did well in theaters.
